WellCare Community Connections

WellCare's mission is to serve and through it's Community Connections model, WellCare works to identify available social services to help improve the health of our members and lower the overall cost of healthcare. An innovative new program, WellCare Works, offers multiple tools to help members learn, train and prepare for steady employment and/or volunteerism.

About Our Presenter: Morgan Kirk - WellCare

Morgan Kirk, received her B.A. in Sociology from Morehead State University. After working in microsociology for six years in Eastern Kentucky, she settled in Hazard, KY where she became involved with civic and community organizations such as Kiwanis and InVision Hazard. Morgan is employed as a Supervisor with the Community Connections team at WellCare Health Plans, Inc. to look at ways to overcome barriers in social determinants of health that lead to disparities in health outcomes. WellCare focuses primarily on providing government-sponsored managed care services through Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, as well as individuals in the Health Insurance Marketplace. Through her role with WellCare, Morgan was named Young Woman of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce in Perry County, and is secretary for the Housing Development Alliance board, Vice-Chair of Northfork Local Food board, and is an advisory committee member for the Kentucky Consortium of Accountable Health Communities.
