This session will explore the emotive power of visual storytelling and how video can be harnessed as an effective vehicle to drive measurable engagement.

Join storytelling masters Mary Knox Miller (founder, Nonprofit Video Lab) and Raffi DerSimonian (Principal, DerSimonian) for an interactive workshop where we will delve into practical tips, approaches, insights, and creative strategies for producing compelling video that will highlight and advance your organization’s mission and vision.

Participants in this workshop will leave with:

• A framework to begin developing a customized video strategy for your nonprofit
• Access to tools and resources to help demystify video content creation
• Practical tips on how to leverage your camera phone as a source of authentic content creation

Mary Knox Miller, Founder, Nonprofit Video Lab: Fifteen years in the field, Mary Knox (not just ‘Mary’) Miller has developed a heart-centered approach to video storytelling across a career in journalism and higher ed. She is the founder of Nonprofit Video Lab, an online course and community helping nonprofit leaders increase their impact and influence by learning the tools of video and the art of storytelling. In her own time, Mary Knox enjoys traveling (12 countries and counting!), hiking in the woods with her kids, and enacting social change through volunteerism.

Raffi DerSimonian, Principal, DerSimonian, LLC: With over 20 years’ experience in public relations, marketing, communications, and institutional advancement, Raffi DerSimonian has a comprehensive understanding of utilizing video to effectively tell a story. Via RDS Group, Raffi works in highly collaborative settings with leading digital design and video partners, delivering customized and compelling solutions through a powerful mix of strategy, creativity, content, and technology.
