About

Founded in 1937, the LO has a long-standing reputation for creativity and excellence. With an annual budget of $8M, 58 full-time musicians, and a 34-week performance season, the LO is changing the very idea of what a 21st century orchestra can be and do. Performing more than 90 concerts each season, the LO engages and inspires an audience of over 75,000 each year. A wide array of concert series includes: Classics concerts with world-renowned artists; the Pops and Family series; and our Music Without Borders series held at locations throughout the city. Additionally, the LO is the resident performing group for Louisville Ballet and Kentucky Opera. Through energetic leadership, Music Director Teddy Abrams is driving the vision for the LO to become “the most interesting orchestra on the planet.”
