About

Opportunity for Work and Learning has faithfully pursued  the vision to create a world without barriers to employment since its founding in 1961. Initially established as a community vocational rehabilitation program geared toward helping people with disabilities, OWL has since expanded its facilities, programs, and services to better assist individuals in our community overcome barriers to employment and move toward self-sufficiency.


Today, OWL’s mission is to help individuals overcome barriers to employment to achieve personal and professional growth. OWL offers vocational evaluations, job preparation, workplace essential skills training, job placement and coaching, supported employment, work adjustment and experience, independent living and life skills support, as well as certifications for forklift operation and customer service, and employment in our manufacturing division, the Lexington Manufacturing Center (LMC

  • The OWL Center supports individuals with job placement by providing comprehensive vocational evaluations, life management classes, basic computer/internet classes, and resume classes.
  • ACES assists individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to lead a rich and full life by offering assisted community involvement as well as employment and behavioral supports.
  • LMC is a wholly owned subsidiary of OWL. LMC is a for-profit who provides contract manufacturing and warehousing/distributions services self-supported and relies solely on customer sales for revenue. LMC does not receive any government subsidies.
