Join the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Bluegrass Chapter and the Kentucky Nonprofit Network (KNN) for a one-day conference featuring keynote speaker Kathy Drucquer Duff (KDD Philanthropy). 

This one-day conference is dedicated to exploring innovative strategies for transforming the fundraising landscape. Join experts as they delve into topics such as evolving trends in philanthropy, diversity in fundraising, building sustainable financial models, effective donor stewardship, and more. Join us to learn about impactful fundraising strategies to help drive your organization’s success, while networking with peers from across Central Kentucky!

  • The Changing World of Philanthropy: Explore how current philanthropic trends are reshaping fundraising efforts. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the evolving landscape, which requires a shift in our approach. This session will provide key insights into adapting to and leveraging these changes for greater impact.
  • Story Listening: Successful fundraising is more about story listening than story telling. This interactive session combines theory and practical ways to expand your approach. You'll learn how to ask probing questions that uncover valuable stories, participate in an exercise to grow this technique, and receive a take-home exercise to conduct within your own organization.  
  • Effective Strategies, Talking Points, and Briefings: Discover the importance of a strategic and disciplined approach to donor strategy. This session will cover critical components for personalized strategies, as well as briefings and talking points with a goal of strengthening relationships with our donors and program partners.

Dr. Abeni El-Amin, PhD, EdD, MNA – President, Project Ricochet 
Join us for an enlightening session on transforming fundraising through inclusion and equity. We will explore inclusion and diversity strategies for enhancing constituent and donor engagement, ensuring diverse leadership representation, and conducting effective inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA) training for staff and board leadership. You will leave this session with concrete steps that will strengthen your nonprofit's IDEA efforts.

• 2:15-3:00pm - Nonprofit Endowment Funds: Building Long-term Financial Sustainability

Halee Cunningham – General Counsel & Director of Planned Giving, Bluegrass Community Foundation

In this session, we’ll talk about the mechanics of how endowment funds work. We’ll also discuss how to identify top endowment fund prospects and how to incorporate endowment building into a nonprofit fundraising strategy. Whether you have an existing endowment you want to grow, or want to get one launched for the first time, join us to get your endowment questions answered.

Doug Scott – VP of Fundraising Solutions & Grants, Ashley|Rountree

Everyone wants to raise more money, and a lot of times that money is right under our noses. Our existing donors are the first place to look. The presentation will explore the essential elements of effective donor stewardship, focusing on building and maintaining meaningful relationships with your supporters. We'll cover critical strategies, from setting goals and segmenting donors to personalized outreach and communication. You’ll gain insights into creating a donor cycle that enhances retention and maximizes engagement.

About the Keynote Speaker, Kathy Drucquer Duff: 

Kathy Drucquer Duff is an expert in advancement and leadership development with clients around the world. She’s worked in and with institutions across the nonprofit spectrum, including education, the environment, healthcare, and social services. Her work spans training, coaching, mentorship, strategy, and an extensive webinar training platform.

Kathy founded KDD Philanthropy eight years ago after a career that included serving as Associate Vice Chancellor of University Development at University of California, San Diego, Vice President of Philanthropy at Sharp HealthCare Foundation, and Associate Vice President of University Relations and Development at San Diego State University. In these roles, she honed her approach to supporting both the leaders and the advancement staff who are building a better, more generous world through their work.

As coaches and consultants, Kathy and her team quickly assess a client’s landscape, identify needs, engage with staff at a variety of levels and functions, and provide tools to build the individual and the culture. Their approach is informed by a strong belief that the best investment an advancement leader can make is in the people who carry out the work of inspiring and securing philanthropy every day. Additionally, Kathy is a certified Quadrant 3 Leadership Coach.

Kathy is a sought-after consultant, author, and speaker for industry associations, including the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Association of Donor Relations Professionals (ADRP).
