KNN offers free Staffing Peer Huddles for member organizations’ staff and board members to strengthen their HR practices. Using KNN’s Principles & Practices for Nonprofit Excellence in Kentucky tools as the basis for discussion, the Staffing Huddle meets on the first Tuesday of every other month from 2-3:30pm ET. See below for dates.

The Staffing Huddle offers KNN members a virtual opportunity to discuss recommended staffing/HR practices with their peers and discussions are facilitated by HR & DEI Consultant, Chanta Howard Wilkinson, JD. Chanta is the founder of Chanta Wilkinson Consulting, LLC, where she provides diversity, equity, and inclusion consulting and assistance to organizations implementing strategies and best practices. Huddle discussion topics include: recruiting and retaining employees from underrepresented groups; exploring personnel and organizational policies through a DEI lens; acknowledging and disrupting inequities in the workplace; and more.

On the June huddle: Acknowledging and Disrupting Unconscious Barriers and Other Barriers to Inclusion -- Organizations must acknowledge and address the various barriers to inclusion in the workplace in order to foster welcoming environments for all. In the nonprofit sector, it is also important for organizations to recognize and address how these barriers may show up in their work and impact the communities they serve. We will discuss how unconscious bias, microaggressions, and stereotypes impact the experiences of others in both the workplace and the communities we serve. We will also explore strategies in reducing and/or disrupting these barriers. Note: The June Peer Huddle will NOT be recorded.

HUDDLE COMMITMENT/EXPECTATIONS:

By joining the Staffing Peer Huddle, you are making a commitment to be an active participant in Huddle meetings. As each Huddle builds on previous Huddle meetings, we ask you to plan to join us every other month, if possible.
We ask that you participate in the Huddle with an openness to different perspectives, valuing a space for honest discussions where all opinions are honored. Confidentiality is expected of all Huddle participants.
