SUMMARY:The Board Member’s Guide to Good Governance Workshop Series: Nonprofit Board 101 (Basic Board Member Duties)

We start our series with an overview of nonprofits\, the nonprofit sector in Minnesota\, and a basic overview of the duties and responsibilities that board members have as volunteer external leaders of nonprofit organizations. We will focus primarily on basic board information and the fiduciary duties that board members have (we'll also define that word fiduciary!)\, and talk about what board members should and should not be doing. Many new board members never get basic training when they begin their board service this will set some groundwork for board service and will also provide content you may never have gotten even if you're a nonprofit board veteran.
