Inclusive by Design: Disability, Neurodiversity, and Digital Access

March 5, 2026 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM (EST)

Description

This event is offered by our partner in another state. Please double-check times and time zones prior to registering.

This training provides a brief, grounding overview of disability before taking a deeper dive into neurodiversity including its history, meaning, and how neurodivergence shows up in workplace settings. Participants will explore common misconceptions, reflect on the language we use, and build a clearer understanding of how to support individual employees and the entire organization.

Building on this foundation, the session connects neurodiversity and disability to digital accessibility and universal design. Through real examples and practical applications, attendees will learn how to design digital content and communication in ways that ultimately benefit everyone.

This workshop is applicable to all roles who seek to improve their digital accessibility and universal design, however, is explicitly beneficial to communications, development, and program staff.

Training Objectives

  1. Understand the various dimensions of disability and neurodiversity.
  2. Reflect on the history and future of neurodiversity and identify how neurodivergence shows up in workplace settings.
  3. Identify common digital barriers that prevent people with disabilities and neurodivergence from fully engaging with websites, documents, and online platforms.
  4. Apply accessibility best practices in everyday workflows to improve the accessibility of digital tools, communications, and resources.
